A new mobile stack cutter with amazing accuracy
The Swedish company Logosol that produce small-scale wood processing products can now offer your company their latest invention for forest industry, the Stack cutter.
The Logosol mobile stack cutter works with amazing accuracy – the resulting board stack holds a precision of ± 2 mm.
Introduction in UK and USA 2004
This new maschine has only been sold in Sweden and Germany, but is now presented to the European and American market. It’s a new pack saw for accurate cuts, according to Swedish customers it’s the best pack saw when you compare performance and capacity to price.
Vertical cut
Since the guide bar moves straight down, the whole length is used thus increasing the sawing speed and improving the saw cut surface.
Simple installation
There is no need for a special installation. The stack cutter is ready for use on delivery. Thanks to the low weight, it is easy to roll in place over the stack to be cut. The stack need not lie completely level as the stack cutter can be adjusted to the correct angle.
Line up the cut, set the stack cutter, push the start button and let the guide bar sink down through the boards.
Three wheels
If the stack won’t come to the cutter, let the cutter come to the stack. The Logosol Stack Cutter is fitted with three wheels, making it very easy to move. Two of the wheels can be locked and the third can be adjusted up or down.
Patent applied for the sight
In order to get accurate saw cuts in the simplest way possible, the cutter has been fitted with three double sights on the motor side. These are in turn fitted with small plastic sight pegs on both sides of the cutter.
Before starting the cutter, these pegs are drawn out and sawn off with the guide bar. In this way you obtain an exact guide bar position. The principle behind the pegs is a unique innovation for cutting with chain saws and we have applied for a patent.
Ball bearing control of the guide bar tip
The guide bar tip is fitted with ball bearing steering that moves easily and very accurately. The adjustable guide bar guards that are supplied in three different lengths can also be attached to the tip control.
The E5000 motor unit
The E5000 motor unit is the same proven model we have fitted on our portable mini-sawmill since 1994. We have sold more than 5000 units around the world – a large number to Russia where our sawmills work in double and triple shifts seven days a week, year after year.
The E5000 has powerful 5 kW, 3-phase motor that can take on most everything. The motor drives the chain sprocket via a speed gear that creates a maximum chain speed of 22.5 m/s. Chain lubrication is done by the modified oil pump originally fitted to one of Stihl’s largest chain saws.
Guide bar and chains
The Logosol Stack Cutter is fitted with a Stihl standard guide bar for a 1.6 mm drive link gauge (#6) either 1200 or 1500 mm in length.
We normally use a cross-ground full-skip chain, that is a chain with half as many cutters as a normal chain providing greater power and cutting capacity at each. The cross-grinding chain, such as those normally used for ripping, ensures a smooth, even surface.
Our standard guide bar can accept a large selection of chains at reasonable prices, including chains with hard-metal chisel-teeth for cutting plasterboard and paper.
Sharpening the chain
A chain will normally complete between 100-200 cuts before it needs filing. This can be done in place using a file holder, an excellent method that only takes a few minutes though it calls for certain professional skill.
You can also remove the chain and grind it in a common bench grinder.
Chip fan
The Stack Cutter can be connected to a central chip outlet or a separate chip fan. However, it is usually sufficient to connect a simple, portable chip fan delivering one hp effect.
Two models
There are two models of the Stack Cutter, namely the 1200, capable of cutting stacks up to 1100 mm wide, and the 1500, with a 1450-mm capacity. Both models can accept stacks that are up to 1350 mm high.
Delivery
In Sweden the stack cutter is delivered pre-assembled, standing on its wheels to make loading and unloading easy. It is wrapped in plastic and delivered ready to run.
For longer transports, the stack cutter is partially disassembled and packed in a sturdy wood crate. Two persons using simple hand tools can assemble the machine in half a day.
