Big Mill Basic

For higher precision and flexibility when choosing how to cut the log.
With Big Mill BASIC you can cut logs into rough-edged boards, or into block that can be used for building a log house, or that can be cut into edged planks and boards.
The Big Mill BASIC package includes a 2.75 cm (9 ft) long guide rail, and two guide rail supports made of steel that can be set at 90 degree angles in four exact positions, enabling you to cut right-angled surfaces. You can adjust the height quickly and accurately with the help of scales with fixed steps that facilitate adjustments.
Big Mill BASIC offers many possibilities. If the log is to be sawn where it already lies, the mounts can be screwed directly to the log ends. The equipment can stay mounted on the log until only the centre of the log remains. This last part is sawn with the help of the Timberjig, which is guided by the sawn surface of the last cut.
If you want a more permanent work site, you just fit the mounts and the guide rialto a ‘log ladder’ that you build yourself. The project log is easily secured at a right angle next to the guide rail, which can be raised or lowered. All instructions are included in the detailed manual.
The system is suitable for both normal and oversized logs. Guide bar lengths up to 90 cm (35”) can be used. When fitting the mounts to the log ends, the Big Mill BASIC package is suitable for logs up to 80 cm (32”) in diameter.
Worth Knowing about Big Mill System
• Cut as short logs as possible, and you will get better precision and the
work will be easier. The aluminium guide rails can be fitted together and extended
when required. They are available in the length of 0.5 m, 1m, and 2.75m (1.6
ft, 3.3 ft, and 9 ft).
• When the guide rail is over 4 m (13 ft) long, a guide rail prop should be
fitted at the middle of the log; when it is over 7 m (22 ft) long, two guide
rail props should be used.
• If you want to upgrade your sawing, the Timberjig and guide rails of Big
Mill System are compatible with the Logosol Sawmill and Woodworker’s Mill.
• The packages are composed to give you what you need, but all components in
the system can also be ordered separately.
• More information about all the possibilities, components and accessories
of the system, are described in the manual.
• We can provide you with a chainsaw, guide bar, and chains that are suited
for sawing logs, but you can just as well use standard equipment if you already
have a chainsaw with two bar bolts.
• Sawing is great fun! The feeling when holding your first board is hard to
beat.
